DJI, the world’s biggest drone maker, has cut a sizeable number of jobs from its corporate sales and marketing teams at its headquarters in Shenzhen, China, as first reported by Reuters. According to Reuters, DJI’s corporate sales and marketing team has been cut from 180 to 60 people and its global video production team has shrunk from a few-dozen to now only three. The job cuts are supposedly due to business difficulties stemming from the coronavirus pandemic as well as mounting political pressure in key markets such as the US.
On the heels of Reuters‘ report, a DJI spokesperson challenged the stated job cut figures as “very inaccurate” but declined to provide specific figures. The spokesperson, however, confirmed that there were job cuts at the company.
