Healthcare insurance upstart Bright Health has announced that it’s raised $500 million in Series E funding from investors including Tiger Global Management, Blackstone, T. Rowe Price, NEA, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Greenspring Associates. The new funding adds up the total amount of funding that Bright Health has raised since its founding in 2015 to over $1.5 billion. The company says it’ll use the new funding to accelerate its growth and diversity its business.
Bright Health is a health insurance provider for individuals and enterprises. The company currently operates in 43 markets and 13 states across the US, with more than $1.2 billion in annual net revenue. The company currently has over 200,000 members under its coverage, notably only four years after its formal launch. Overall, Bright Health is one of the most capitalized health insurance upstarts and is backed by big-name investors. The company currently has more than 1,000 employees spread across offices in the US states of New York, Colorado, Alabama, Arizona, Texas, and Minnesota, where it’s based.
