Daimler and Bosch have obtained approval from relevant authorities for a Level 4 driverless parking system they have worked on since 2015. With this approval, Both companies can now kick off daily use of a driverless parking service that’s accessed via a smartphone app. The service is currently available at the parking garage of the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany.
In precise terms, Daimler and Bosch have worked together since 2015 on a smartphone app that’ll let drivers park their cars without having to be at the steering wheel. It works exactly like a valet parking service, but with no driver this time. Thanks to a smartphone app, drivers just have to move in, get out, and let their cars autonomously drive to a parking space. This is possible thanks to sensors in the parking garage that monitors the driving corridor and communicates with vehicles. This way, the cars can even drive themselves up and down ramps to move between stories in the parking garage if required.

With this approval, Daimler and Bosch can now spread the driverless parking service from the Stuttgart Mercedes-Benz Museum to other places. One can guess this solution will be sold to interested parties [buildings with parking spaces].
Started in 2015, the driverless parking service was first unveiled in 2017, and went live at the Stuttgart museum in 2018. It works by combining parking infrastructure supplied by Bosch with automotive technology built by Mercedes-Benz.
