Petcube has unveiled two new smart pet cameras, the Petcube Bites 2 and Petcube Play 2, successor to the original Petcube Bites and Play models which spots features including an extended wide angle lens with up to 180° full-room view, a 4-microphone array and 5GHz WiFi support for improved connectivity.

Both devices will allow Petcube users to access over 50,000 Alexa skills including setting alarms, controlling smart home devices, checking the weather, listening to news and playing music, all hands-free. They also feature 1080p HD video, 4x digital zoom, and night vision, powered with AI technology to give pet owners real-time alerts about potentially dangerous events.

Petcube Bites 2 has been re-designed to be even more compact to accommodate small and large spaces with more options for placement. It features an updated treat flinging mechanism that allows users to better control treat portions for their pets and also support a wider variety of treat sizes.

Petcubes Play 2 is the the 3rd generation camera modeled off the original Petcube Camera, with the iconic cube design and a built-in interactive laser toy which Petcube says has been re-engineered to be super precise and smooth.

Both pet cameras work with the Petcube Care subscription service, watching after the home and users’ pets when they’re away with the application of AI to understand what pets are doing and take note of important events or abnormal behaviors. Petcube Care subcribers also get exclusive deals on pet insurance and supplies from brands like Wellness, Mars Petcare, Vetted, Audible and Rover.

“Petcube products have essentially become smartphones for pets, with average pet parent spending over 54 minutes per week interacting with their pets – more time than they talk to their parents over the phone,” Petcube co-founder and CEO Yaroslav Azynyuk said.

“Our mission is to connect pets to the Internet and give them a voice. These new products are not just the best pet cameras on the market, with features like 180º field of view, Alexa built-in, and Petcube Care, they are one of the best home cameras available, period. That’s how the future of Pet Care looks like.”

Both cameras will become available in spring 2019 in two colors: Matte Silver and Carbon Black. Petcube Bites 2 is priced at $249 while the Play 2 comes costs $199.
