San Francisco based social networking firm Pinterest just today revealed new statistics concerning its product with a report of over 250 million monthly users as of current and over half of the users and 80% of new sign-ups coming from outside the U.S.
The company is also now reporting 175 billion pins in total saved on its platform with users saving all kinds of different ideas spanning from love and style ideas to art, fashion and DIY projects across the globe. The total number of pins is up 75% since early last year indicating more ideas than ever for users to surf from all around the globe.
Growing its user monthly number 25% from last year, Pinterest has seen outstanding growth from its beginnings 8 years ago to now being one of the most used platforms on the internet with consumers making use of its visual search tool for discovery of ideas, interest and info.
Since its start, Pinterest has raised around $1.5 billion in VC funding across several rounds with notable backers including Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten, Andressen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, SV Angel, Fidelity, FirstMark, Slow Ventures and individual investors including Affirm co-founder Max Levchin, Eventbrite co-founder Kevin Hartz, Bebo co-founder Michael Birch and Yelp CEO Jeremey Stoppelman among others.
