Amazon manufactures its Kindle Devices in Foxconn’s Chinese Factories

Tech giant Amazon which manufactures a slew of smart products including its Echo devices and a range of other smart devices has been urged by China Labor Watch to take steps to improve conditions at the Foxconn factory where its Echo and Kindle products are manufactured citing conditions not currently suitable for the workers in the factories.

According to the report, The factory’s workers currently face issues of low pay, Excess overtime work, Inadequate safety training amidst other issues, For the company to function well, These issues will have to be solved in order to cater and create the best environment for the manufacturing of different products for these companies, Amazon says it has taken note of these issues and has asked Foxconn which manages the factories to improve these current working conditions.

Amazon which is currently the world’s largest online retailer stated that they have made requests to Foxconn to make corrective action on this issue to make the environment more conducive for its workers.

The complaint by The Chinese Labor Watchdog states that the factory makes use of more temporary workers than the Chinese law allows, The dormitories of these employees also do not have very adequate fire-safety equipment and the workers are also made to work for about 100 hours overtime monthly as opposed to Chinese law which limits the monthly safety hours to 36 each month.

This adds to the slew of reports and criticisms that Amazon has been facing over its workplace environment where numerous employees have complained to have been stressed out amidst not too good pay and other issues.

Amazon should now take slews of actions to rectify this problem and also work towards efforts of making the workplace more comfortable for both its office, warehouse and affiliated factory workers.
