Aussie software firm Atlassian has now added to its product system with an acquisition of Virginia based IT management startup OpsGenie for a price of $295 million to boost its own offerings in the enterprise software market.
OpsGenie founded six years ago provides tools to alert developers for software and website outages in addition to providing collaborative solutions for analysis and response to these issues.
The firm has grown by a high margin counting over 3000 customers as of current and having processes hundreds of millions of alerts so far. OpsGenie will now be integrated into Atlassian’s new Jira Ops product which would provide a better way for software and IT teams to go about incidents through the provision of key details ranging from alerting to resolution in one spot.

“Six years ago, my co-founders and I recognized that always-on services were becoming commonplace, customers’ expectations were growing, and service disruptions had increased potential to impact a company’s revenue and reputation.” Opsgenie CEO wrote in a new post.
“As a result, the pressure on IT professionals was changing, but the tools to help them stay aware and in control of issues were not. OpsGenie was founded with the mission to modernize these tools and help teams respond faster to incidents. We have grown a world-class team relentlessly focused on improving the lives of Dev and Ops professionals.”
This marks Atlassian’s 10th acquisition since inception and the second highest known price it has paid for an acquisition so far. Prior to this purchase, OpsGenie is known to have raised a $10 million Series A funding round 2 years ago led by notable VC firm Battery Ventures.
