Vince Steckler, the long-time CEO – since 2009 – of cyber-security vendor Avast, is stepping down, the company announced on Wednesday. After 10 years on the job, Steckler will be replaced by Ondrej Vlcek, the company’s current President of Consumer Business. He’ll officially step down on June 30, but’ll remain available in an advisory role for another year.
As CEO, Steckler guided Avast from under $20 million in annual revenue to more than $800 million. He led the company’s notable acquisition of AVG technologies for $1.3 billion in 2016 and saw it through a successful IPO.
