Agoda, an online travel and rentals service owned by travel giant Booking Holdings, has laid off 25% of its workforce, according to a source familiar with the matter. The layoffs come on the heels of other travel-centric companies also resorting to job cuts amid significant revenue declines due to the coronavirus pandemic. The likes of Airbnb, Expedia, TripActions, Kayak, and TripAdvisor have recently had layoffs that collectively affected thousands.
Agoda, headquartered in Singapore, is known to have more than 5,000 employees, meaning a 25% cut would affect at least 1,250 people. Agoda has offices in about 30 countries. The company’s layoffs affected all departments at the company, according to our source.
