Microsoft just announced its financial results for the second quarter of this year, indicating $38 billion in revenue and $11.2 billion in net income. Microsoft, being primarily a software company, doesn’t seem to have been affected much by the coronavirus pandemic, even though the company took a $450 million hit for the closure of its physical stores during the second quarter. Out of the $38 billion in revenue, $11.8 billion came from “Productivity and Business Processes”, $13.4 billion from “Intelligent Cloud”, and $12.9 billion from the “More Personal Computing” segment.
During the quarter, Microsoft returned $8.9 billion to shareholders in the form of share repurchases and dividends, that figure representing a 16% year-on-year increase.
