Energy startup Urban Volt raises $64 million Corporate round from Low Carbon

Irish energy startup Urban Volt which provides an innovative “Light As A Service” model which cuts its clients’ energy bills through the installation of LED energy saving lightning at no upfront cost for its clients while it splits the savings for several years has now raised €55M ($64 million) in funding from energy investment firm Low Carbon which the company aims to make use of for its international expansion.
This investment brings the total raised by the 3 year old startup to over €80 million with the company having previously raised €30M November 2016 from Swiss firm SUSI partners along with previous backing from other investors.
Urban Volt has garnered some notable clients since its start including the likes of Pfizer, Cargotec, Ireland’s Sports Surgery Clinic, Sports Surgery Clinic who make use of its energy saving service to decrease costs whilst providing a win-win advantage to both their companies and Urban Volt itself.
Urban Volt is looking towards expanding to the regions of the U.K., U.S. and other mainland European regions with this funding being a major boost for the company’s operations as it expands its business and energy operations.
Urban Volt marks an addition to the booming and huge global energy startup space which counts the likes of several other major startups which include $2 Billion 7 year old Indian startup ReNew Power and Green technology $2.7 Billion startup Bloom energy which is earmarked to go public soon.
