FireEye, the publicly-traded cybersecurity company, has announced that it’s acquired Respond Software, a startup that provides automated cybersecurity threat protection tools. FireEye coughed up $186 million in cash and stock to acquire the company, which was backed by some $32 million in outside funding from investors including CRV, ClearSky, and Foundation Capital.

At the same time that FireEye announced its new acquisition, the cybersecurity company also announced that it’s nabbed a $400 million strategic investment from private equity firm Blackstone and ClearSky, a cybersecurity-focused investment firm. Notably, ClearSky was an investor in Respond Software, the company that FireEye just acquired.

Under the terms of FireEye’s strategic fundraising, a Blackstone executive by the name of Viral Patel is taking a board seat at the company.

FireEye says it’ll use its new capital to support strategic growth and expansion.

FireEye’s acquisition of Respond Software formally closed on the 18th of November, 2020. It marks the company’s ninth acquisition since its founding and its second this very year.
