Juniper Networks has announced it’s acquiring Mist – a Cupertino, California based wireless LAN startup founded in 2014 by Cisco veterans, and backed by the likes of GV, Kleiner Perkins, Cisco Investments, Lighspeed Venture Partners and Norwest Venture Partners – for $405 million. The deal is expected to close in Juniper’s fiscal second quarter of the year.

Mist is known for its AI-driven wireless platform, that makes use of patented Bluetooth tech paired with Wi-Fi and IoT to deliver wireless internet for enterprise customers. The company has raised nearly $90 million in total funding, according to Crunchbase data. Juniper says the acquisition of Mist Systems will expand its presence “in the rapidly growing cloud-managed segment of the wireless networking market”.
