Microsoft has entered negotiations to acquire Israeli cybersecurity startup CyberX, according to a report from Israeli news site Globes. Globes reports Microsoft will pay $165 million for CyberX, which has raised nearly $50 million in funding as a private independent startup. Israeli news outlet TheMarker earlier reported that Microsoft and CyberX had entered acquisition talks. CyberX is said to have most recently been valued at $110 million, meaning investors could be looking towards juicy returns if the reported $165 million acquisition price stays true.
CyberX develops cybersecurity products primarily for Internet of things (IoT) systems. The startup was founded in 2013 by CEO Omer Schneider and CTO Nir Giller, both veterans of Israel’s famed “Unit 8200” military unit. CyberX has raised funding from investors including Qualcomm Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners, Glilot Capital Partners, OurCrowd, and Flint Capital. CyberX’s cybersecurity products are primarily targeted at industrial customers.
CyberX maintains offices in Israel, Europe, and the U.S.
