Microsoft has unveiled Pproject xCloud, a new streaming technology which will offer players the freedom to play on the devices they desire without being locked to a particular one which empowers for players being the center of the gaming experience.

The new project is about providing players new choices whether they prefer the use of Consoles or PCs for the games they play and providing mobile-only access to gaming characters, worlds and immersive stories they haven’t been able to experience in previous times.

It features the use of mobile phones and tablets paired with Xbox controllers through Bluetooth and via touch input over 4G and 5G networks. Compatibility has been enables with existing and future Xbox games through a build of custom hardware for Microsoft’s data centers which leverages its years of experience concerning consoles and gaming platforms.

A new customizable blade demonstrated above has been crafted to host component parts of multiple Xbox One consoles and associated infrastructure for support which will be scaled in data centers across Azure regions over time.

Currently being tested with public Betas set for next year, This will represent an interesting take on multi-faceted and complex challenge of cloud based streaming. Delivering of high quality streaming experiences across multiple devices and platforms involves several challenges which Microsoft takes on with this new project.

Microsoft Azure with no doubt possess the scale to handle to deliver an experience for global gamers with data centers in 54 regions as of current and services available in 140 countries.
