API marketplace RapidAPI has announced it’s raised an additional $25 million in funding from existing investors including the likes of Andreessen Horowitz, M12 (Microsoft’s venture capital arm), Green Bay Ventures, and Grove Ventures. With the new funding, RapidAPI has now raised a total of about $63 million in funding since its inception. The company says the funding comes on the heels of a “period of rapid growth” that has seen the number of developers and companies using its API marketplace service skyrocket.
RapidAPI says that more than 300,000 new developers have signed up for its platform since the beginning of this year. Also, the company has added 30,000 new subscribers during that same time frame, according to a press statement. On the heels of a coronavirus pandemic that has led many to work primarily online, RapidAPI has, in turn, witnessed a significant usage uptick. From the beginning of March up until now, the San Francisco-based company has facilitated a total of more than 224 million API calls, according to its press statement.
The newly announced $25 million financing is an extension of RapidAPI’s Series B, which was closed last year, rather than a new funding round itself.
