Data analytics company Splunk has added a new board member who’s a retired four-star US Army General by the name of Dennis Via. Via had a 36-year military career where he rose to the role of US Army General before leaving the military to join IT consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton. He currently serves as an Executive Vice President with the Booz Allen Global Defense Group and has now added a new role as a board member at Splunk under his belt.
General Via is bringing more than 40 years of experience in the military, technology, and public sector to Splunk. His appointment now brings the number of board members at the data analytics company to 11.
Via served in the US Army from 1980 to 2016 and in the last four years of his career was the Commander of the U.S. Army Materiel Command. He retired as a four-star General which is the highest rank that’s normally achievable in the US Army. It’s a coveted rank that’s been bestowed on only 246 people in the history of the US Army.
After a long career in the US Army, General Via has now taken up a board seat at Splunk, a publicly-traded data analytics company that’s one of the biggest in its field. Splunk currently employs nearly 6,000 people and pulled in $2.36 billion in revenue in its most recent fiscal year.
