Payments company Visa has given all of its employees across the U.S. the option of working from home through the end of this year. This move adds Visa to a substantial list of companies that have approved year-long work-from-home options for their employees as of late. Such companies include the likes of Google, Facebook, and Twitter, which went a step further by giving its employees an option to work from home permanently.
The coronavirus pandemic has led many to work primarily from their homes globally and with a few options left, some companies have resorted to year-long work-from-home programs for their employees. Some other companies, however, seem opposed to long-running work-from-home options. For example, Apple has already begun moving some of its employees back to physical space. Likewise, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently critiqued permanent work from home policies, propounding the idea of such a policy as being somewhat detrimental to workers’ well-being.
