SF based hospitality giant Airbnb has made a new and notable addition to its board with the company appointing former Pixar CFO Ann Mather as a non-affiliated independent director with Mather joining its board as the first female member and second independent director along with former American Express CEO Ken Chenault.

Airbnb is expanding its board in a bid to implement its 21st-Century vision of operating on an “infinite time horizon” fulfilling the interests of its users with Mather now taking this position effective as of announcement.

In addition to being CFO at animation studio Pixar from the years of 1999-2004, Mather has chaired audit committees of both Alphabet and Netflix with executive stints at Village Roadshow Pictures and Pixar acquirer Disney.

“I’m incredibly excited to announce the appointment of Ann Mather to the Airbnb Board of Directors. In meeting Ann, I was immediately impressed by her deep financial technical expertise, her passion for innovation, and her fierce commitment to fostering growth within creative cultures like the one we have at Airbnb.” said Airbnb CEO and Head of Community Brian Chesky.

“Her leadership on the boards of some of the world’s most innovative companies as well as her experience working with some of the world’s most incredible entrepreneurs will serve Airbnb and our community well as we move forward.”

Quoting Ann, “I am thrilled to join the Board of Directors at Airbnb, a company with an incredible clarity of vision, sense of purpose and long-term perspective. Home sharing has been part of my life from an early age. Growing up in England, my family always stayed in family cottages and B&Bs and I’ve continued that tradition with my own children when we travel.”

Other members of Airbnb’s board include LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, Sequioa’s Alfred Lin, a16z’s Jeff Jordan, Actor Danny Glover and its 3 co-founders.
