At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) holding from 8 to 11 January 2019, Daimler says it’ll focus fully on the “outlook of the future of mobility”. For this, It’ll be unveiling the new Mercedes-Benz CLA for the first time at the event, the electric Mercedes-Benz EQC SUV for the first time in the U.S. and the Vision URBANETIC concept also for the first time in the U.S.

According to Daimler, The new Mercedes-Benz CLA will feature an evolved MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, a product that premiered at this year’s CES event with new features added just 12 months later. Daimler dubs it as the “most emotional vehicle of its class” and a “a highly intelligent automotive specimen”.

Features offered in the CLA include the MBUX Interior Assistant which identifies operation requests on the basis of interior movements, augmented reality for navigation and the ability to grasp indirect voice commands.

At the same time frame, The Mercedes-Benz EQC, its first purely battery-electric Q series production model will be unveiled for the first time in the U.S. This model described by Daimler as “a pioneer of avant-garde electric aesthetics” features two electric motors at the front and rear axles with a combined output of 300 kW and delivers an electric range of over 450 km according to NEDC (provisional figures).

The Vision URBANETIC concept first unveiled September this year is also coming to the Consumer Electronics Show. It’s a new mobility concept based on an autonomously driving, electrically driven chassis suitable for bodies intended to transport passengers or cargo. It forms a logistic ecosystem which can be utilized by local public transport companies as well as private individuals to transport goods across urban environments.

The concept is aimed at decreasing traffic volume, relieving inner-city infrastructure and contributing to a new, urban quality of life. Daimler is also organizing a Trucks press conference a day before CES kicks off where attendees will be given the opportunity to check out the most recent products from its North American truck and bus/coach portfolio at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
