SiMa.ai, a San Jose-based machine learning startup, has announced it’s raised $30 million in Series A funding led by Dell Technologies Capital, with participation from venture capital firms Amplify Partners, Wing Venture Capital, and +ND Capital. The Series A funding adds up the total amount SiMa has raised to $40 million. SiMa says it’ll use the funding to accelerate its production and deliver on customer commitments. Under the terms of the Series A, Daniel Docter, the managing director of Dell Technologies Capital, has joined SiMa’s board.

SiMa.ai is a startup that sells machine learning computing resources. It’s a relatively young startup that seems to still be in stealth mode. Its website makes no mention of any customer but has an option where one can schedule a demo under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), very much pointing to the company still being in stealth mode. SiMa’s machine learning computing resource consist of a low-power software solution merged with a custom chip that’ll be built by the startup’s design partners. SiMa’s founder, Krishna Rangasayee, notably has about three decades of experience in the semiconductor industry.

Currently, SiMa seems to have courted about 20 design partners for its custom machine learning chip. These partners are important to the company as they would make for potential customers. SiMa is aiming for a full product launch by next year.
