Lucid Motors Poaches Ex-Tesla Production Executive

Lucid Motors — an electric vehicle maker that raised $1 billion from Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund last year —  has announced it has hired Peter Hochholdinger, an executive who previously held the position of Vice President of Production at Tesla. Hochholdinger will hold a similar position at Lucid, serving as Vice President of Manufacturing.

He’ll head Lucid’s global manufacturing operations, beginning with Lucid’s facility in Casa Grande, Arizona, and also lead manufacturing engineering for the company. Prior to Tesla, Hochholdinger spent more than two decades at Audi, where he rose to the position of Senior Director of Production for the Audi A4, A5, and Q5 models. At this position. he oversaw the assembly of more than 400,000 cars annually.

In joining Lucid, Peter is empowered to create an industry-leading manufacturing process that will deliver the quality products our discerning customers demand and deserve.” He said.

Lucid plans to begin producing its first vehicle — at its Arizona plant — by next year.
