Only a few days ago, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian announced his departure from the company’s board and encouraged the company to replace his board seat with a black member, notably on the heels of the George Floyd killing that has become a highlight of racial injustice in the US. Reddit appears to have honored Ohanian’s request, having just named Michael Seibel, the CEO of Y Combinator who happens to be black, as Ohanian’s replacement. Reddit has long ties with Y Combinator, having been incubated at the famed startup accelerator.
Michael Seibel has been a partner at Y Combinator since 2013, and its CEO since 2016. Before joining Y Combinator, he co-founded two startups; Socialcam and Twitch. Throughout his career, Seibel has advised hundreds of startups that have passed through the famed Y Combinator program.
