Neon Pagamentos, a Brazilian fintech startup, has raised $300 million in Series C funding led by U.S.-based growth equity firm General Atlantic, with participation from investors including Vulcan Capital, BlackRock, PayPal Ventures, Endeavor Catalyst, and banking giant BBVA. The Series C consists of two tranches of $150 million each that’ll be doled out over time. Neon says it’ll use the new funding to support its hiring efforts and grow its consumer and enterprise user base. With the new funding, Neon, which was founded in 2016, has now raised a total of $420 million in equity funding since its inception.
Neon Pagamentos, based out of the city of São Paulo, offers a suite of financial services usually offered by traditional banks in the Brazilian market. Its services include personal banking, investment products, credit cards, loans, and related services. Neon’s expansion has been supported by strategic acquisitions in the Brazilian market, such that this year, the company acquired Magliano Invest, one of Brazil’s oldest stock brokerages.
Currently, Neon has more than 9 million accounts registered across its consumer and business platforms.
