Nissan has announced a new move as part of its current mid-term plan concerning electrification with the auto manufacturer now aiming for one third of its Australian volume to be electrified as part of a new initiative led by a launch of its new Nissan LEAF electric vehicle.
At an electrification thought leadership event held in Sydney, Nissan detailed about its new EV while also making this important future-orientated announcement as it preps for an expected spike in electrification and electric vehicle interest and sales.

Deliveries of the new generation Nissan LEAF will begin mid next year with a features of e-Pedal, Apple CarPlayTM and Android AutoTM coming for the Australian model.
“Electrified vehicles will represent a third of Nissan volume in Australia during our mid-term plan,” Nissan Australia managing director, Stephen Lester said in an official release. “By introducing more electric alternatives on several of our key models, we will make mass market electrification a reality. I have no doubt electric vehicles will be a success here, and sooner than many think, and Nissan is planning for this now to ensure we meet the future needs of the buyer.”

The new LEAF will offer an expected driving range of up to 270 kilometres per charge thanks to a larger 40kWh battery and also brings an increase in power and torque plus a stylish design and bi-direction charging capabilities.
e-pedal allows drivers to start, accelerate, decelerate, stop and hold the car by using the accelerator pedal alone without the use of brakes and also bundles the Auto Hold function which maintains the car’s position until acceleration is required, This enables new owners to drive without the use of the brake pedal for up to 90% of journey time.

It also features Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, push-button start, High Beam Assist, Satellite Navigation, ISOFIX anchor points and front and rear parking sensors.
Combined with a contemporary exterior and interior design, 7-inch Advanced Drive Assist Display, 8-inch touchscreen display, heated steering wheel, leather accented seats and suitable space for five, The Nissan LEAF comes as a safe and comfortable EV which will offer an enjoyable experience to buyers who will get their hands on the vehicle starting from next year.
