Pixar co-founder John Lasseter is leaving Disney at this year’s end amidst harassment allegations

John Lasseter, A co-founder of Pixar Animation Studios which was later acquired by Disney has been reported to be making a complete exit from Disney at the end of this year after allegations of employee sexual harassment concerning him surfaced last year.

Lasseter who is currently on a leave of absence from Pixar Studios stated that those allegations were certain “missteps” which left his employees uncomfortable and he was made to take this leave in response to those harassment allegations.

It wasn’t sure if he was going to return to the company after those complaints and in the light of this reports, It has now been confirmed that he will leaving the company in relation to this controversy.

Lasseter directed various notable movie hits including Toy Story, Cars and A Bug’s Life and was Principal Creative Advisor for Walt Disney Imagineering prior to his leave.

This move comes at a time when the movie and other industries have been hit with a wave of sexual harassment allegations amidst the wake of the Me Too movement where several major players in the Hollywood space have been hit with sexual harassment reports, One notable was the case of Harvey Wenstein who has been accused by over 80 women of sexual harassment and was recently arrested after long legal battles with so many allegations of sexual assault.

No replacement for John Lasseeter has been yet named, John’s exit will mark an addition to the number of a slew of high players who have had to step down or make a leave after several sexual misconduct allegations.
