Food delivery service Postmates has secured a partnership with the U.S. National Football League (NFL) that makes it the official food delivery partner for the popular sports league. The partnership is a multi-year sponsorship agreement between both parties, where Postmates presumably coughs up money for sponsorship rights while expecting to gain business in return. Postmates isn’t new to such kind of partnerships, which seem to be one of the company’s major marketing formats. In the past, Postmates has teamed up with individual sports teams to promote its service.

To kick off a new NFL season on Thursday night, Postmates has committed to deliver meals to frontline healthcare workers at the Ben Taub Hospital in the city of Houston, notably in the midst of a coronavirus pandemic. Throughout the new season, Postmates will institute various promotions and integrations to promote its service.

Postmates currently delivers from more than 600,000 restaurants and retailers across the U.S. The San Francisco-based company is fresh off a buyout by Uber, which has agreed to cough up $2.7 billion to take over the company. Uber is acquiring the company to bolster its food and delivery business.
