Samsung may stop producing its popular lineup of Galaxy Note smartphones after a wide drop in the demand for high-end smartphones this year, Reuters reports, citing “three sources” familiar with the matter.
It’s said that Samsung currently does not have plans to develop a new Galaxy Note smartphone for 2021 and may channel the workforce usually reserved for the development of the Galaxy Note to its new foldable phone lineup.
A departure from the Galaxy Note would mark the end of one of Samsung’s best-selling high-end smartphone brands and one of the best selling on the globe at large. Notably, this year has seen a significant drop in the demand for high-end smartphones amid the Covid-19 pandemic and may now even see the end of one of the world’s best-known premium brands.
Samsung first launched the Galaxy Note in 2011 and has sold millions of units over the years. The most recently launched addition to the lineup was the Galaxy Note 20 which was launched in the US this year with a $999 price tag.
