Skydio’s popular autonomous drone is now getting a new functionality which involves control with the Apple Watch as announced by the drone-maker which has also clicked a partnership which will see its drones now sold across Apple retail outlets.

The Skydio R1 can now be controlled with the Apple Watch which counts as an ubiquitous feature as users now get this unique ability. Skydio’s autonomous R1 drone launched early this year to positive reviews with a commend and recognition for its autonomous driving features which makes use of Artificial Intelligence for avoiding of obstacles even in clustered environments.

Users will be able to control the drone through a simplified set of instructions on the Apple Watch as displayed in the image above. By tapping and sliding up on the Apple Watch display within the Skydio app, The drone gets to launch into the air as a subject for tracking gets selected for filming while taking on various activities.

Users can shoot themselves while hiking, cycling, skating, running and also driving with a car follow feature also available. It also allows selection of two points for the drone to travel on its own.

This new Apple Watch compatibility feature is launching today and will be made available through a Skydio app update. The Skydio which costs $2,000 can also now be purchased from Apple retail locations and the Skydio website.
