Sonos, the popular home audio products maker, has announced the addition of a new board member by the name of Panos Panay, who is best known as the chief product officer of software giant Microsoft. His appointment was effected on the 12th of August, 2020, joining other recent board additions including Conde Nast chief marketing officer Deirdre Findlay and Joanna Coles, the former chief content officer of Hearst Magazines.

Panay has served as the chief product officer of Microsoft since April of 2018. Before that, he held other executive roles at the company including as corporate vice president, Microsoft Devices and corporate vice president, Surface & PC Hardware. “Sonos is making some of the best consumer products out there by focusing on the end to end customer experience. I am excited to work with the board and to be part of what comes next,” he said in a press statement.

“Panos brings extensive experience in building powerful and engaging consumer hardware products and experiences that customers love, at a global scale. He understands how hardware and software work together to deliver products that are easy to use, and deliver a fantastic experience. His track record, along with his passion for Sonos, will make him an impactful contributor to the company’s ongoing success.” Sonos’s board chairman, Mike Volpi, added.
