U.S. tech giants including chipmakers Intel, Qualcomm, Xilinx and Broadcom have halted supplies to Huawei after the Trump Administration — on Friday — blacklisted the Chinese telecom giant and threatened to severe it from U.S. semiconductors and software needed to build its products. Google has also halted supply of hardware and some software services to Huawei, Bloomberg reports.
The Trump administration is accusing Huawei of aiding Beijing in espionage, a not quite surprising issue amid Huawei’s long spat with the U.S. government. The ban negatively affects the world’s biggest supplier of networking gear and 2nd largest smartphone maker, with 59 million smartphone shipments in Q1 2019 alone.

Huawei on the other hand says it’ll continue to provide sales services and security updates to customers, according to an official statement released on Monday. The company has reportedly stored enough chips and other essential components to keep business on for three months in anticipation of a ban.
