At the Consumer Electronics Show, French based FasTeesH showcased the Y-Brush, a re-designed toothbrush with origins in Kickstarter which it says can clean the teeth in only 10 seconds, ten times faster than a standard toothbrush. Health institutions recommend a 2 minutes duration to be spent brushing the teeth but almost a third of Americans have admitted to brushing their teeth less than twice a day and on average less than the 2 minutes recommended duration.

According to FasTeesH, The Y-Brush is a product of nearly three years of R&D with the help of health professionals (dentists and medical doctors), functioning like an electric toothbrush in the shape of a Y allowing complete coverage of all the teeth (different sizes are made for children and adults).

It’s covered with nylon bristles inclined at a 45° angle to ensure thorough removal of dental plaque on the teeth and along the gum line by recreating the Bass-method recommended by dentists, FasTeesH says For clarity, the Bass-method of teeth brushing is displayed in the video below:

“Presently, people brush their teeth one by one, facet per facet, spending under 4 seconds on a tooth, and that is if they are brushing correctly. With Y-Brush, all of your teeth are brushed at the same time, for 5 seconds each, and the correct brushing motion is replicated for you.” FasTeesH co-founder Christophe Cadot said in a last year debut press release.

“You can rest assured that your teeth are cleaned properly with each use of the device. Brushing is made simpler and more practical for everyone, including children and the elderly with diminished autonomy.” Cadot said.

“Today, people think of teeth brushing as a strenuous and tedious chore. The daily routine has become speedy and inefficient. Yet, dental hygiene must be taken very seriously since it has extensive repercussions on one’s general health. Y-Brush was created to improve the current situation.” FasTeesH CEO Benjamin Cohen also said.

The Y-Brush is currently undergoing clinical trials and is available for pre-order for intending buyers, Costing £100 ($125) for a package that includes a handle, a brush, a charging station, a storage stand and a toothpaste applicator.
