According to a piece from the Washington Post, U.S. antitrust regulators have separated scrutiny of Alphabet’s Google and Amazon, putting both companies under the watch of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Trade Commission respectively. According to the Washington Post, a result of this could be Amazon facing increased scrutiny under the new agreement.

This also comes on the heels of the U.S. Department of Justice reportedly preparing an investigation into Google to determine if it violated antitrust laws in operating its online businesses. The report — from the Wall Street Journal — says officials from both the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division and Federal Trade Commission met in recent weeks to deliver justice jurisdiction over Google. It also said the potential investigation set sights more on accusations that Google gave leaning to its own businesses in searches.

According to the Washington Post, the FTC’s plans for Amazon and that of the Justice Department were not immediately clear.
