Israeli 3D technology startup Mantis Vision notable for its provision of 3D image and video capturing technology with the company’s tech being used in Google’s Tango augmented reality computing platform before Tango was retired and also counting a partnership with smartphone maker Xiaomi has now closed a $55 million Series E funding round led by  Luenmei Quantum Co along with Samsung who stands as a returning investor in this round having already funded Mantis’ previous Series C round through its Samsung Ventures arm and is investing in this round through its Samsung Catalyst Fund investment vehicle.

Mantis also counts other previous notable investors including semiconductor manufacturer Qualcomm, major lens manufacturer Sunny Optical Technology and Palo Alto based VC firm Eclipse.

This investment brings the total raised by Mantis to $84 million and will be funneled “to extend the company’s technological edge, accelerate Mantis Vision’s go-to-market strategy, expand its international workforce and  support external growth opportunities.”


Mantis Vision will also now be extending its R&D efforts as it plans to double its global workforce across its home-base of Israel, China, U.S. and Slovakia in the space of 2 forthcoming years.

Mantis has caught the attention of several global tech giants with its 3D imaging and capturing technology which is used and applied in the development of intelligent hardware and software for various services and will be improving its efforts by increasing its pool of talent engineers with this funding.

With Luenmei’s President So Chong Keungs stating “Luenmei Quantum is closely  following  the  Israeli  high-tech  industry, which creates outstanding technology.  Mantis Vision’s versatile and advanced 3D technologies is well positioned and suited for mobile, secure face ID applications  and  entertainment industries in  China. We found that Mantis Vision is the right match for Luenmei Quantum, combining hi-tech, innovation and passion”. This investment very well stands out as a strategic partnership which will see Mantis and its noteworthy investors collaborate on the delivering of 3D software and hardware as Mantis continues to grow its services.
