rideOS, A startup which was founded by a trio consisting of Bill Chen who was the head Tesla’s maps team and was later hired by Uber for a major role where he reported to now fellow co-founder Chris Blumenberg who was a Senior Engineering Manager at Apple along with Ex Uber self-driving manager Justin Ho has now come out of stealth mode amidst announcing a $9 million Series A investment round led by notable tech investor Sequioa Capital and also a new partnership with auto giant Ford’s Smart Mobility Unit Autonomic to accelerate the creation of its safe and sustainable self driving vehicle unit.

Sequioa’s rideOS investment marks the VC firm’s first foray into the self driving space which is very notable as the company has invested and has helped build up so many market leaders in different technology field where it invests in.

rideOS which builds cutting edge transportation and mapping services for autonomous vehicles will now make use of this investment to expand its current team which consists of several employees coming from notable companies including Dropbox, Apple and Dropcam and will also make use of this resource influx to expand its research & development efforts and also garner more partnerhsips for its autonomous technology service.


rideOS is working on offering software which provides mapping routes and also dispatch instructions to autonomous vehicle fleets which is a product highly required by several autonomous vehicle companies to creatively and safely make use of their self-driving vehicles in the transportation space.

Quoting rideOS co-founder Justin Ho “In order to bring millions of self-driving vehicles to the world and create a safe and efficient self-driving ecosystem for consumers, we need to ensure that safety-critical information like traffic conditions, accidents, harsh weather, construction zones, and potholes are immediately and accurately communicated to every vehicle operating in the area.”
