X, Tech giant Alphabet’s renowned and semi-secretive R&D unit has a notable project which it first unveiled early this year in form of Chronicle, A digital security startup led by cybersecurity veteran and former Symantec COO and Executive vice president Stephen Gillett.
Chronicle which initially began 2 years ago under X, the moonshot factory aims to help companies find and put a stop to cyber attacks before they cause harm and will consist of two parts, A new cybersecurity intelligence and analytics platform aimed for enterprises to understand security related data and VirusTotal, The Spanish originated malware intelligence service acquired by Google in 2012.
With security threats growing as more firms move to cloud based and digital services, Chronicle aims to multiply the speed and impact of security teams by making the process of capturing and analyzing security signals more easier, faster and cost effective.
Chronicle’s current team consist of several Google veterans along with VirusTotal creator Bernardo Quintero with the company also open for more positions at it aims for talent to boost its operations.
Google’s career site shows 22 positions available with open slots for software engineers, customer experience engineers, Enterprise account managers and a head of Data Science indicating the newly independent firm is ramping up its efforts as it aims to deliver in the cybersecurity market.
As of current, Chronicle states its working with a number of Fortune 500 companies who are providing counsel on its work and are already testing a preview release of its new cybersecurity intelligence platform.
“We’re excited about being an independent company, yet part of Alphabet. We’ll have our own contracts and data policies with our customers, while at the same time having the benefit of being able to consult the world-class experts in machine learning and cloud computing (among many other topics) that reside in other parts of Alphabet.” Its CEO and co-founder Stephen Gillett penned in a statement.
“None of us have to settle for cybercrime being a fact of life, or for a reactive, expensive existence of cleanup and damage control. We’re looking forward to working with many organizations in the coming years to give good the advantage again.” He continued.
