Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey will be testifying before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on the 5th of September as confirmed by the Committee which states Dorsey will be “attesting on the company’s algorithms and content monitoring”.

Several Republicans have raised concerns about social media companies censoring conservative content with the E&C committee planning to gain insights and answers concerning the issue.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee “intends to ask tough questions about how Twitter monitors and polices content,” Republican Representative Greg Walden, the panel’s chairman, made known in a statement.

“Twitter is an incredibly powerful platform that can change the national conversation in the time it takes a tweet to go viral,” He continued “When decisions about data and content are made using opaque processes, the American people are right to raise concerns.

“We look forward to Mr. Dorsey being forthright and transparent regarding the complex processes behind the company’s algorithms and content judgment calls,”

Representatives from Twitter along with Google and Facebook are also billed to appear on the same day to testify on election security. Along with Dorsey, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg is expected to attend on behalf of the social media giant which has faced scrutiny and has taken several actions over meddling of its platform for misinformation related to electoral interference.
