Weeks after receiving a summons from the U.S. Congress, Amazon has clarified that its CEO, Jeff Bezos, will be available to testify before Congress this summer. His summon centers on allegations that Amazon employees harness private data on independent third-party sellers on its platform to launch competing products. A report from the Wall Street Journal was what brought the allegations to the limelight. Amazon has previously denied using data on third-party sellers to launch competing products, even in a sworn statement to Congress.
A letter sent by Amazon to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee said that the company was “committed to cooperating with your inquiry and will make the appropriate executive available to testify,”. “This includes making Jeff Bezos available to testify at a hearing with the other CEOs this summer,” the letter said.
