TerraPower, a Washington based nuclear power company chaired by Bill Gates is said to be seeking new partners for tests of its nuclear energy systems after newly imposed U.S. rules forced it to turn back on a partnership with China.

The Wall Street Journal reports this following a statement from company officials. TerraPower which reached an agreement with state-owned China National Nuclear Corp last year is unlikely to followed through with these plans due to U.S. limitations on tech deals with China.

“We’re regrouping,” TerraPower CEO Chris Levesque said to the Journal in an interview. “Maybe we can find another partner.”

The company is now uncertain on which country to work with to test its nuclear energy. The restrictions placed by the U.S. Department of Energy are part of a broader plan by the Trump Administration to limit access to U.S. technology by the Chinese counterpart.
