According to a new report from Business Insider, Waterloo based Blackberry is said to be in talks to acquire Cylance, the cybersecurity company that raised $120 million in June known for its math based solutions adopted by over 80 of the Fortune 500 companies.

The company applies artificial intelligence, algorithmic science, and machine learning to cybersecurity for prevention of advanced security threats and may count as a very good deal to Blackberry which has focused on security and enterprise software after a decline in its mobile phone business.

Although the valuation with its most recent round is not known, Cylance was already valued at $1 billion from a previous investment and counts the likes of DFJ, Blackstone, Dell Ventures, Khosla Ventures and Capital One as backers.

It currently counts 4,000 enterprise customers and $130 million revenue for its fiscal 2018 as per a company press release.
