Freshworks, a San Mateo-based software company that was valued at $3.5 billion after a last year funding round, has announced that it has appointed software veteran Tyler Sloat as its chief financial officer (CFO). His appointment comes on the heels of Freshworks announcing that it’s surpassed $200 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR). As Freshworks’ CFO, Sloat will oversee all of the company’s accounting and finance functions.

Sloat previously served as the CFO of enterprise software company Zuora and guided it through an initial public offering (IPO). Such makes it seem like Freshworks is hiring Sloat to help take it public, after having remained private for about a decade and reached a significant $200 million ARR milestone and having raised some $400 million in total funding. Before joining Zuora as chief financial officer, Sloat held executive finance roles at various companies including NetApp and Siebel Systems, two well-known technology firms.
“Tyler brings a strong performance record, financial acumen, and strategic insight which is requisite to running a disciplined business model that also accelerates our ability to achieve a billion dollars in revenue in the coming years,” Freshworks CEO Girish Mathrubootham said in a press statement that announced Sloat’s appointment. “As we emerge from this new era, Freshworks will rally in support of businesses to help them navigate changing customer expectations and behaviors.” he said.
