Impossible Foods, the plant-based meat products company, which is notably fresh off $200 million in new funding, has for the first time expanded into Canada, marking Impossible’s first international debut outside Asia. Impossible Foods, a US-based company, has made its products available at several restaurants across Canada. For now, operations in the country remain relatively small, with a few popular chefs courted to help promote Impossible’s products. Canadians now have the option to purchase the Impossible Burger, the company’s plant-based flagship burger.

Four weeks ago, Impossible announced that it’s raised $200 million in new financing led by Coatue Management, a tech-focused investment firm. The company said it’ll put the new capital towards expansion and has apparently embarked on that with expansion into Canada. In the neighboring US, Impossible is currently widespread, with its products sold at 30,000 restaurants and more than 10,000 grocery stores. Impossible is based out of the state of California.

Altogether since its inception, Impossible Foods has raised $1.4 billion in funding. Among the company’s backers include notable names like Khosla Ventures, Google Ventures, Temasek, Viking Global, UBS, and Bill Gates. Impossible Foods was founded in 2011 by Patrick O. Brown, a Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry at Stanford University.
