Chip giant Intel has announced the appointment of a new board member by the name of Dion Weisler, who is himself best known for being the former president and CEO of famed PC manufacturer HP. Weisler will serve as an independent director on Intel’s board and as a member of the company’s compensation and finance committees. In Weisler lies a tech veteran with decades of experience at technology companies including the likes of HP, Lenovo, Acer, and Telstra. Weisler isn’t new to serving on public company boards, being a current board member at Thermo Fisher Scientific and mining giant BHP, both publicly-traded companies.
With Weisler’s addition, Intel now has 10 board members, including four independent directors.
“Having admired Intel for more than three decades as the company that fueled compute as we know it, I’m honored and excited to join them as they transform to capitalize on new markets fueled by the incredible growth of data and intelligence. Their rich entrepreneurial culture, unique innovation and scale positions Intel to drive a positive global impact for decades to come,” Weisler said in a press statement that announced his appointment.
