The Ohio-based electric car startup Lordstown Motors has said that it’s looking to build an electric RV in partnership with the publicly-traded RV maker Camping World. Both companies have teamed up to explore the development of new EV products for the RV marketplace that’ll be based on the Lordstown Endurance electric pickup, a press statement notes.

Lordstown and Camping World will initially work to create lithium-ion battery packs to replace the conventional gasoline generators used on RVs, before shooting for their ultimate goal of developing a fully electric RV aptly named eRV.

As the market for electrified vehicles rises rapidly, it’s apparent that the RV world won’t be left out, and Lordstown Motors, a startup based out of Ohio, is looking to capitalize on that rise.

Notably, Lordstown Motors was founded just about a year ago and hasn’t yet debuted a commercial product. It’s unveiled an electric pickup named Endurance that it says has racked up 50,000 non-binding reservations and is expected to get into customers’ hands by September 2021.

Lordstown Motors recently held a blank-check merger that added nearly $700 million to its coffers and saw it go public, now with a market cap of $3.2 billion. With that funding, the company aims to ramp up production and boost its headcount from 250+ currently to 1,500 at the end of next year.

Lordstown Motors will produce its vehicles at a 6.2 million-square-foot factory which it purchased from the American automaker General Motors.
