The software giant Salesforce is working on a possible deal to buy out the enterprise communications platform Slack, per a report from the Wall Street Journal. Such a report seems very notable and has sent Slack’s shares soaring more than 25% on Wednesday.

Before the surge in its shares, the publicly-traded Slack had a market value of around $17 billion. Now, the company trades at a market value of over $21 billion whereas a possible Salesforce acquisition could mark one of the biggest deals ever seen in the software industry.

Given Slack’s big market value, it’s likely that Salesforce will make use of its stock to finance an acquisition. The software giant currently sports a market capitalization of over $227 billion so acquiring Slack won’t be so expensive.

Slack went public just last year after having stayed private for a decade. The company debuted on the New York Stock Exchange at $38.5 a share with a market value of $23 billion and has over time traded from as low as $19.53 to as high as $42.
