Late last month, Toyota opened doors to a Hybrid Skatepark built in partnership with Rome’s Bunker (BNKR) Skatepark which caters for fun for both those with and without physical impairments and adaptive issues.

The new accessible wheel park which counts as a very unique one brings together both adaptive and non-adaptive wheeled action sports into a single facility. Whether sitting or standing or on two wheels or four, Both can make use of the skatepark for showcase of sports skills while enjoying the fun with others.

The new initiative in inspired from Toyota’s Start Your Impossible campaign which highlights real-life mobility stories of Olympic and Paralympic athletes as well as everyday athletes in their everyday journeys. Toyota kicked this off earlier this year in honor of its shift from a car company to a full mobility company and also in line with its eight-year worldwide partnership with The International Olympic and Paralympic Committees.

The Hybrid Skatepark hosts a number of wheeled Freesports including BMX (Bicycle Moto Cross), Skateboarding and WCMX (WheelChair Moto Cross).

Toyota

“This is a first for Toyota, and is symbolic of Toyota’s vision of ever-better mobility for all. Toyota’s [aim] is to offer integrated mobility solutions to everyone, including those with physical impairments, ensuring an increasingly inclusive society. Toyota will follow with more locations throughout Europe.” Toyota Motor Italia CEO Mauro Caruccio stated.

“The Start Your Impossible campaign shows people that just because we have a physical impairment doesn’t mean it’s going to stop us,” 2018 WCMX World Championship silver medallist Lili Rice who is also noted as the first female athlete in Europe to land a backflip in a wheelchair also stated.

Toyota

“I’m really excited that Toyota is fully behind WCMX and is helping people get into this awesome sport by giving others the chance to try it out. With Toyota’s help we can show the world the potential of WCMX and that the wheelchair isn’t just a mobility device but truly a piece of sports equipment, like a skateboard or BMX.” Rice added.

The Facility located in the Italian capital is currently open to the public as a fully accessible location for a unique combination of sports activities.
