Japanese motorcycle customizing specialist Custom Works Zon recently unveiled an interesting custom model commissioned by BMW Motorrad which counts the prototype of a completely new boxer engine as its high point.

“It was a great honor and a challenge to be able to build a motorcycle around the prototype of such a spectacular new boxer engine for one of the most tradition-steeped manufacturers.” Custom Works Zon co-founder Yuichi Yoshizawa said. The mod shop founded by him and Yoshikazu Ueda in 2003 is renowned for outstanding creations and is a regular invitee to famous shows like the “Brooklyn Invitational”, “The Hand Built Motorcycle Show” in Austin and the “Mama Tried Show” in Milwaukee.

The custom bike generated buzz about its prototype engine at the The Mooneyes Show in Japan and earned the prestigious “Best of Show Motorcycle” award among over 600 of its peers. Zon’s unique style is clearly visible with modern production techniques, lots of craftsmanship in the detail and classic styling in the custom bike.
It comprises of large 21 front and 26 rear inch wheels made of aluminium and fitted with relatively narrow tires as well as a girder fork was also made of solid aluminum. The bike’s rear swinging arm is made of steel pipe and attached to its tubular space frame by means of concealed suspension.

It’s large-volume engine is suspended in its rigid frame structure reinforced with grid tubes while its fitted fuel tank, seat unit and front trim are made by hand from sheet metal. Features explained in words here are displayed in the images below:

The Custom Works Zon team displays the “Best of Show Motorcycle” award

Despite lasting just a day, the Hot Rod Custom Show or The Mooneyes Show as called in the customizer scene attracts at least 15,000 spectators yearly and just held for the 27th time. The Custom Works Zon team took home the prestigious award thanks to their stunning bike which earned victory amongst others. The team is pictured flaunting the award in the above photo.
