Social media giant Facebook is suing hardware and popular smartphone manufacturer Blackberry Ltd with claims of the company having stolen its voice messaging technology among other patented processes.
Facebook filed a 118-page complaint this Tuesday in a San Francisco federal court and is seeking damages for alleged infringement on 6 of its patents. In the filing, Facebook also claims infringement on patented technology which improves how mobile devices deliver graphics audio and video in addition to another which unifies tracking and analysis of GPS data.
This suit escalates the legal battle between both parties as Blackberry is known to have sued Facebook in an LA federal court March this year claiming unauthorized use of its tech on its messaging services.
Blackberry also sued social media firm Snap claiming patent infringement a short time after taking to a legal battle with Facebook. The smartphone and hardware maker hasn’t yet made any comments on this current suit brought by Facebook.
