Smart lock maker August has debuted a new video doorbell – the August View – that pairs with August smart locks, so that customers can see and speak to visitors, and also let them in directly from their phone. The company says video and customer data will be stored securely in the cloud, protected by two layers of authentication and GDPR- compliant privacy policies.
Features of the new video doorbell include :
- On-demand live video streaming (1440p resolution)
- Zoom-able video to identify unwanted visitors and package thieves
- Instant motion alerts anytime someones approaches the doorstep
- Review of cloud-stored videos for up to 15 or 30 days (requires subscription)
Users can speak to visitors via the August View smart doorbell

The August View package will be an all-in-one solution that’s ready for use out of the box and includes the video doorbell itself, a rechargeable battery, Micro-USB cable, wireless door chime and the August app.
With a choice of 8 different faceplates: 4 metal faceplates (satin nickel, oil-rubbed bronze, satin brass, midnight gray) and 4 colored faceplates (black – out of the box, red, blue, and white), Users can customize the doorbell to complement their home. The August View will be available for purchase beginning March 28. It’ll go for $230 on August.com and various US retailers.
