Grocery delivery startup and Unicorn Instacart has now partnered with major on-demand logistics startup Postmates on a pilot program to provide faster delivery for Instacart customers during peak hours through its network of over 200,000 persons handling its deliveries as it aims to handle the traffic over high demand during the hours of mid-morning and mid-afternoon which Postmates can take on in order to speed up Instacart’s delivery process.

Postmates announced this in a blog post yesterday where it gave details about this new partnership between the San Francisco based startups.

The Pilot program has began running in its home market of San Francisco with the companies having plans of expanding to new markets and adding more delivery partners depending on the outcome of this test.

This gives a boost for both Instacart as customers always appreciate faster delivery along with Postmates which just recently expanded into 100 new cities.

With both Instacart and Postmates aiming to expand its market in what is a very competitive ecosystem with the likes of Uber, DoorDash, Lyft and also Amazon’s Whole Foods also having major operations, We’ll get to see how this new partnership will play out for both companies and if the Pilot program would get to expand into several other markets.

Instacart founded 2012 has grown rapidly having raised around $1 Billion whilst having a current value of $4.35 Billion from its most previous $350 million Series E financing round.
